ATC announces death sentence for Chotoo gang head, 18 others

Convicts were sentenced to death for killing six policemen in Rajanpur in 2016.

LAHORE- (Pakistan Point News- 12 March 2019) The head of notorious Chotoo gang and 18 other members of different gangs were sentenced to death by an anti-terrorism court in Multan on Tuesday.

Ghulam Rasool who was the head of the gang and other convicts were sentenced to death for killing six policemen in Rajanpur in 2016.

The ATC awarded life sentence to two convicts Qasim and Abdul Samad, who were below 18 years of age.

According to tv reports, the other convicts were the members of Sikhani gang, Inder gang, and Changwani gang, all were operating in Rajanpur district of Punjab.

According to the details of the case, police teams had conducted a raid against Chotoo gang in April 2016 but they were attacked by the criminals. Six policemen got killed and eight others had sustained the injuries in the attack by the gang members, who also taken hostage twenty-four other policemen and release them after nine days.

The convicts included: Ghulam Rasool alias Chotoo, his brother Pyaara, Nadir, Deen Muhammad, Khalid alias Khaldi, Ishaq alias Bilal, Akram alias Akri, Ghulam Haidar, Hakim, Razzaq, Majid, Nasir, Sher Khan, Jumma alias Bhutta, Rasheed, Behram, Bashir, Abdul Wahid, Mujeebur Rahman, and Hussain Bakhsh.

The convicts are in police custody at the New Central Jail in Multan and they have 15 days to appeal against their sentence in Lahore High Court.
