Repatriation of FATA displaced people in final stages: KP Governor

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Nov, 2016 ) : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Eng. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra Monday said the repatriation of affected people of FATA was in final stages and effective measures were underway to ensure their rehabilitation.

Addressing a tribal Jirga during a daylong visit to Kurram Agency, the Governor observed that rehabilitation of educational and health facilities were getting top most priority in this respect.

MNA Sajjad Hussain Turi, Additional Chief Secretary, FATA, Fida Wazir, Commissioner, Kohat Division, Mussarat Hussain; Political Agent, Kurram Agency, Ikramullah Khan; Commandant, Kurram Maletia, Omer Malik and other senior officials were also present on this occasion.

Referring to the points raised in the address of welcome, the Governor said that more than Rs 1690 millions had been earmarked for developing Kurram Agency during the current financial year and out of which more than Rs 470 millions were allocated for education sector.

Similarly, he added, more than Rs 85 million would be spent on health services while Rs 690 millions had been allocated for developing communication sector. The Governor inaugurated a newly developed hydel power project which beside generating 150 KV electricity will irrigate vast cultivable area in the agency as well.

Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra also inaugurated Governor's Model schools at Parachinar and Sadda which have been completed at a cost of Rs 170 millions, besides newly constructed Parachinar to Kara Khela Road which has been completed at a cost of Rs 63 million.

Meanwhile, the Governor also inaugurated an Emergency Ward at Agency Headquarter Hospital; a degree college and an irrigation scheme at Alizai in Sadda Tehsil. Taking serious note of a demand, the Governor directed the WAPDA officials to take initiatives for up-gradating the Sadda Grid Station from 66 kw to 132 kw.

He also directed FATA Secretariat to ensure filling up of the vacancies both in the health and educational institutions of the agency. Referring to a point regarding rehabilitation of 42 partially damaged schools, the Governor announced the approval of Rs 102.40 millions for this purpose.

While mentioning the lack of facilities in various other educational institutions, he also announced Rs 131.7 millions whereas Rs 106.4 millions were approved for water supply projects in the agency.

Meanwhile, the Political Agent, Ikramullah Khan accompanied by agency heads of line departments briefed the governor on repatriation and rehabilitation process of affected people; pace of progress on different developmental projects and future needs of the agency in this respect. APP/adi/ahn
