US Court Dismisses Appeal in Murder Case of Tsarvaev's Friend by FBI

A US court has dismissed an appeal filed by the family of Ibragim Todashev, who was shot dead by an FBI agent investigating the 2013 Boston marathon bombings, court documents showed on Monday

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th March, 2019) A US court has dismissed an appeal filed by the family of Ibragim Todashev, who was shot dead by an FBI agent investigating the 2013 Boston marathon bombings, court documents showed on Monday.

"This appeal is hereby DISMISSED for want of prosecution because the appellant Estate of Ibragim Todashev has failed to file an appellant's brief within the time fixed by the rules, effective March 11, 2019," the court document stated.

Last fall, the family lost a legal case against an FBI agent and two police officers who were present during Todashev's killing. Abdulaki Tosahev, Ibragim's father, filed an appeal earlier this year. He told Sputnik this January that he plans to travel to the US upon receiving a visa to continue to seek justice for his son.

Ibragim Todashev was friend of suspected Boston marathon bomber Dzhokar Tsarnaev. On May 22, 2013, FBI agent Aaron McFarlane fatally shot Ibragim Todashev during a police interview in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings and a triple homicide in Waltham, Massachusetts in 2011.

McFarlane was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing after a Florida prosecutor and the US Justice Department ruled separately that the FBI agent acted in self-defense.

Dzhokhar's older brother Tamerlan was killed in a gunfight with police four days after the bombings.
