People Of Sargodha Demand Solid Waste Management Department

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Nov, 2016 ) : People here Monday demanded setting up the solid waste management department, as open garbage dumping along city roads have made their lives miserable.
Talking to APP, various people said that open garbage dumping could be witnessed in all parts of the city, especially Lahore-Faisalabad Road bypass, Old Satellite Town D-Block and Canal Road. People said the tehsil municipal administration (TMA) had failed to deal with the problem effectively.
Nazar Hussain, a resident of D-Block Satellite Town, said that garbage dumping along roads was causing pollution as well as diseases in the city.
When contacted, a spokesperson for district administration said the district coordination officer (DCO) had directed all TMAs for crackdown on the people dumping garbage in open.
He said a Solid Waste Management Unit (SWMU) was being established in the city, which will help solve the problems. Special teams have also been formed to conduct raids and impose fine on the elements involved in the illegal act of dunping grabage along roads, he added.
