Malir 15 Situation Worsens As Violent Protest Against Raids Broke Out

KARACHI, (Pakistan Point News – 7th Nov, 2016) : Protesting against the recent raids and arrests by law-enforcement agencies, enraged demonstrators staged a sit-in and blocked the traffic in Karachi area of Malir. The workers of PPP and MWM staged a protest sit-in at National Highway in Malir-15 since morning following raids and arrests. Following the blockage of National Highway for several hours, police sprang into action and resorted to shelling and aerial firing to break up the demonstrators. Police have said the severe actions will be taken if the protest continues. Demonstrations calling for the release of arrested religious workers are ongoing in the Malir and Shahrah-i-Pakistan areas, with protesters maintaining they will continue their demonstration until workers are released.
