WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th March, 2019) US President Donald Trump's former personal lawyer Michael Cohen said in a statement on Friday Trump's claim that he asked the president for a pardon and later lied under oath about the matter is a lie.
"Just another set of lies by [President Donald Trump]," Cohen said in a statement posted on Twitter.
Earlier on Friday, Trump accused his former lawyer of lying to Congress when Cohen testified under oath last week that he never asked, nor would he accept a pardon from the president.
Last year, Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison for lying to Congress, fraud, tax evasion and making unlawful campaign contributions, including "hush money" payments to women who claimed they had relations with Trump. He is due to report to prison on May 6.
