ISLAMABAD, Nov 7 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Nov, 2016 ) : Illegally detained Secretary General of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), Shabbir Ahmad Shah, in occupied Kashmir, has said that New Delhi should shun its stubbornness, accept the ground realities and hold plebiscite in Jammu Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar, reacting to the statement of Permanent Counsellor in the Indian Mission to the UN, Mayank Joshi, he said: "Neither the so-called Kashmir Assembly has any authority to decide the future of the territory nor can the sham elections in Kashmir can be termed as substitute to the referendum." Mayank Joshi in his statement had said that India was the world's largest democracy and free and fair elections were held regularly in Kashmir.
He rejected Joshi's statement, saying time cannot change the historical facts and realities. "It is shocking that a new theory is being propounded to stop the people of Kashmir from seeking their birthright to self-determination.
The people of Kashmir have never acknowledged the supremacy of Indian rule," he added. Shabbir Shah said the people of Kashmir have never even acknowledged the so-called elections in the territory which are conducted at gunpoint. Even many intellectuals of India have raised questions over the legitimacy of these sham elections, he added.
