MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th March, 2019) Some 40 people were killed in the militant attacks on Nigeria's northwestern state of Zamfara on Tuesday, local media reported.
The attacks by the armed men on motorcycles occurred in Danjibga and a number of other settlements, according to the Nation newspaper.
The local authorities have confirmed the attacks, but said that the official number of deaths from the incidents would be disclosed later, according to the newspaper.
Nigeria has been repeatedly plagued by attacks and kidnappings by the Islamist group Boko Haram, which has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State terrorist group (banned in Russia). On February 15, 66 people were killed in several settlements of northern Nigeria's Kaduna state as a result of attacks by criminal elements, according to the state's Governor Samuel Aruwan.
