Two Pakistani soldiers martyred in LoC firing: ISPR

The martyrs have been identified as Havaldar Abdur Rub and Naik Khuram.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 2nd March, 2019) India continues to resort to ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) as two Pakistani soldiers were martyred on Saturday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), "Two Pakistan Army soldiers embraced martyrdom at Nakiyal Sector in exchange of fire while targeting Indian posts undertaking firing on civilian population."

The martyrs have been identified as Havaldar Abdur Rub and Naik Khuram.

India has also reportedly suffered casualties in the fresh exchange of fire.

"Reports of casualties of Indian troops and damage to post due to effective response by Pakistan Army," the ISPR statement further read.

The decades-long row between India and Pakistan, saw renewed tensions after two Indian jets were downed by the Pakistani air force.

The retaliation is likely to amount to a limited escalation and has chances of developing into an armed conflict.

The Pakistan Army has been put on high alert along the LoC with all required safeguards along Eastern Border in place to thwart any Indian aggression.

Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy have also been directed to stay fully alert, a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

The development comes amid heightening tensions between India and Pakistan and the possibility of war.

The Pakistan armed forces are in a state of readiness for all eventualities, the statement read.

The ISPR also directed the public to stay mindful about rumour mills and stay responsible in use of social media.
