Vietnam Seeks Broader Cooperation With Russia - Member of Ruling Party

HANOI (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th February, 2019) Nguyen Hong Thach, a member of the ruling Vietnamese Communist Party's Commission for External Relations, told Sputnik on Wednesday that his country was seeking to expand cooperation with Russia.

"Russia is always a strategic partner in the past, I mean, during the Soviet times, and now. We rely a lot on our cooperation with Russia. I think that Russia can have better contribution to the development in Vietnam ... We expect more cooperation with Russia. Cooperation is good, but we expect better one," Nguyen, who is also the editor-in-chief of Vietnam's Foreign Affairs magazine, said.

Vietnam and Russia are currently having a cultural exchange year, the first one in the history of bilateral ties. In 2020, the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Russian-Vietnamese diplomatic relations will be celebrated.
