National Media Council breaks ground on UAE Pavilion at Expo 2019 Beijing

ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2019) Construction works have begun on the UAE pavilion at Expo 2019 Beijing Horticulture announced the National Media Council, NMC, on Tuesday.

Taking place from 29th April 29 to 7th October 2019, the expo will be held under the theme 'Live Green, Live Better' with more than 110 countries and international organisations participating.

The NMC is set to shed light on the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s efforts to develop the country’s agricultural sector, as well as the UAE’s achievements in this field, and its strategy to convert the desert into green spaces using advanced technologies.

The UAE pavilion will bear a creative logo that represents 'Greening the Desert', set to underline the country’s status as a leader in future planning, especially in agriculture. The UAE’s participation in the Expo will also highlight its commitment to embracing green development and horticulture as an approach to advancing civilisation and ensuring the wellbeing of societies.

Dr Rashid Al Nuaimi, Commissioner-General of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2019 Beijing, said, "The UAE’s participation at the Expo 2019 Beijing reflects our wise leadership’s vision to develop and upgrade several sectors, including agriculture. It also embodies the NMC’s commitment to representing the UAE and disseminating its message by attending such prominent regional and international events."

"Participating in the Expo is an opportunity for us to shed light on the UAE’s efforts to sustain its agriculture sector and represent the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s contributions to developing and enhancing agriculture as a Primary means to achieve sustainable development and transform the desert into green, living spaces," he added.

The UAE Pavilion is set to cover an area of 1,850 sqm and designed around a number of fundamental concepts that will represent the UAE’s nature, palm trees, and traditional farming, as well as the UAE’s accomplishments and innovations in agriculture.

Visitors to the Pavilion will be presented with a short documentary covering the UAE’s initiatives, achievements, and innovations in agriculture; it focuses on its approach to advancing sustainable development by increasing green space.

The Pavilion will also take visitors through the Park section, which includes valleys and aflaj (or oasis) that mimic the UAE’s environmental landscape and highlight the changes that have transformed the desert over the years into a green environment and home to various species of plants. Visitors will also be able to visit the Cultural Section, which reflects the traditions and heritage of the UAE and its people. On their way to exit the pavilion, visitors will have an opportunity to explore the UAE’s preparations to host Expo 2020 Dubai and the ongoing construction of the site.

NMC is the government entity tasked with managing and overseeing the UAE’s pavilions at international events.
