AGAHI Signs MoU With NUML To Carry Out Research On Futures

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 04th Nov, 2016 ) : AGAHI, a not-for-profit organization and the country partner of the Millennium-Project, a Global Futures Studies & Research participatory think-tank signed MoU with NUML for establishing Pakistan's First Foresight Lab focusing on the country's challenges and opportunities.
The Lab aims to check and test assumptions about Pakistan's future among the leadership and wider society, explore perceptions of Pakistanis from both inside and outside the country, and identify future risks and opportunities.
The MoU signing ceremony was held here at NUML Conference Room, a statement here on Friday said. On the occasion, Puruesh Chaudhary, the Founder and President of AGAHI said, "AGAHI and NUML will be focusing on strengthening the industry-academia linkage on creating informed foresight perspectives in Pakistan".
She further added, "This relationship will bring together experts from varied academic backgrounds road mapping their professional opinions on Pakistan State of Future Index (PK-SOFI) envisioning broader range of alternative futures.
Speaking on the occasion Rector-NUML, Maj. Gen Zia Uddin Najam HI(M)(Retd) said; "Besides contribution in developing Pakistan- State of Future Index (PK-SOFI), NUML will suggest and collaborate on futures and foresight opportunities.
The University faculty and AGAHI's Foresight Lab Team will establish a linguistics corridor; linking it to a significant socio-economic development project, the Pak - China Economic Corridor (CPEC).
This will be of immense importance for Pakistan". The knowledge collaboration will help strengthen the industry- academia linkages developing a demand-driven futures' discourse pertinent to human security.
AGAHI and NUML endeavor is based upon the premise that increased linkages between industry and academic institutes can improve quality of life and foster innovation within the pedagogy and practice of futures research.
Dr. Shahid Mahmud CEO Interactive Group of Companies stressed the need for collaboration to meet the challenges of a fast evolving world that make the times we live in both exciting and frightening; sharing ideas and furthering innovations like never before.
In concluding the MoU signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Karamat Ali Director ORIC- NUML expressed that time has arrived where academic institutions must play their role to synchronize with initiatives like Agahi's Foresight Lab and how the endeavor would act as a catalyst to Identify the real important issues which are going to affect Pakistan in future and their indigenous solutions
