NEW YORK (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 23rd February, 2019) Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Farooq H Naek has said that parliamentarians have a crucial role in implementation of sustainable development agenda.This was stated by Farooq H Naek while participating in the Inter Parliamentary Union Annual Hearing, Emerging Challenges to Multilateralism: A Parliamentary Response, on 21-22 February held at the UN in New York.Speaking as a panelist, the Senator said called for a more potent General Assembly that is capable of addressing global challenges.
He also said that the Intra-Parliamentary Union can play an important role and help create international consensus on issues of common interest of all nations of the world by increasing exchanges between parliamentarians across the globe.He emphasized that Parliamentarians are important stakeholders and are a critical link between governments and their people.Parliamentarians, Senator Naek said, through their oversight of legislation and implementation of national policies, can help implement the global agenda, especially related to sustainable development.
