Training on "Role of Police in protection of children on move" ends

KARACHI,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 04th Nov, 2016 ) : A two-day training on "Role of Police in Protection of Children on the Move" for newly recruited police officials, mostly assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) conluded here on Friday at Saeedabad Police Training center.

The event aimed at sensitizing police officials about the treatment with child-sensitive issues, said a statement. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Faizullah Korejo speaking on the occasion said that Sindh police was making every effort to play its role by sensitizing the officials, who have to deal with such children in different situations.

SSP Faizullah Korejo, SSP ShadIbn-e-Masih, human rights activist Iqbal Detho, Chief Executive Officer DevCon, Nisar Ahmed Nizamani and Country director Tere Des Home and Salam Dharejo facilitated the training sessions.

SSP Faizullah explained in detail to participants about protection framework to deal with juvenile and children with legal aspects and emphasized the role of probation officer and incharge Police Officers when a victim or accused is a child.

He suggested that the juvenile court should decide the case within four months. No child should be charged with or tried for an offence with an adult, he added. The Officer Incharge of the police station must inform the guardian of the child and concerned probation officer for proper assistance, he said.

Nisar Nizamani discussed the issues of street children and prevailing practices in the world and emphasized that civil and government officials together can definitely improve the working relationships with the government sector specially the police officials, who have the very vital role in the society.

Iqbal Detho discussed the existing laws and procedural mechanism in terms of dealing with the cases of children and called upon police officials to follow the procedure and ensure protection of children.
