First transgender school opened in Lodhran

The transgender school has been established in Lodhran city under Literacy Department of Punjab government.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 21st February, 2019) A school for transgender persons has been opened up in Lodhran.

The transgender school has been established in Lodhran city under Literacy Department of Punjab government.

The news was shared by Spokesperson of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, Dr Shahbaz Gill on Twitter.

The lives of transgender people are marked with poverty, harassment and other intolerable issues in the country.

Access to education is the right of every person but unfortunately the transgender community is facing discriminatory attitude in our society, even no formal education for the transgender people was popular in the country.

Transgender people discontinue their education and risk their future career opportunities due to discriminatory behaviour of the society as they are even deprived of family and school environment.

Collective efforts are needed to recognize and help the community resolve their genuine issues and to ensure protection to the transgender people.

The government’s recent achievement of passing 'Transgender Persons Bill 2017' has brought a ray of hope to the community.

The inclusion of transgender persons in an education set up is a big challenge and such steps by the government will help improve the lives of transgender in the country.
