Owing to recent spells of rain and snowfall, winter season has prolonged.
Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 21st February, 2019) Scattered rains have been lashing various parts of the country districts, turning weather chilly by forcing people to wear additional warm cloths.
According to Met office, widespread rain-thunderstorm occurred in upper Punjab (Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions), Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir, and at scattered places in Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and DG Khan divisions.
The current rainfall is because of westerly wave, which is present over the country and may persist in upper and central parts till next week.
Snowfall over the hills is also expected in Northern areas including Swat, Chitral, Kalam, Malamjabba and Upper Dir), Hazara division.

The agriculturists have termed recent rainfall extremely beneficial for wheat crops especially in rainy and aridareas of the province. Due to recent rains, seasonal infections like cough, ENT diseases and other allergies would curtailed in the province.
Experts predict that prevailing weather condition would persist during the next few days.
