MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th February, 2019) Russian constellation of satellites should be increased in order to revolutionize the navigation and communication sector, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his annual address to the Federal Assembly on Wednesday.
"For a real revolution in communication, navigation, and the creation of Earth remote sensing systems, a drastic increase in capabilities of our satellite constellation is needed. Russia has unique technologies for this," Putin said.
The Russian leader underlined that "this year, it is necessary to adopt a master plan for the development of the infrastructure of the digital economy, including telecommunications networks, data storage and processing facilities. The task for the coming years is to ensure widespread access to the high-speed internet, to launch the fifth-generation communication networks, the 5G."
