Russian Lawmaker Says Facebook Page of In The NOW Project Blocked Under US Influence

The chairman of the Russian Federation Council's committee on constitutional legislation, Andrei Klishas, told Sputnik on Monday that the suspension of a Facebook page of In the Now media project was "obviously" influenced by the United States

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th February, 2019) The chairman of the Russian Federation Council's committee on constitutional legislation, Andrei Klishas, told Sputnik on Monday that the suspension of a Facebook page of In the Now media project was "obviously" influenced by the United States.

On Friday, Facebook blocked the accounts of Maffick Media, including In the Now. The Ruptly video agency, a subsidiary of RT, is a shareholder in this independent media group. The blocking coincided with CNN running a story on Maffick's perceived ties to the Kremlin.

"It is impossible to imagine that some big company, of the kind that usually comply with the strictest quality standards in their relations with clients and partners, would on its own do something that is certain to tarnish its business reputation and lower its capitalization. Blocking the pages of the projects ... without any preliminary warning and attempts to get explanations was obviously done under the influence of the US authorities. There cannot be any other explanation to the social network acting so aggressively," Klishas said.
