US President Donald Trump has called on European countries, particularly the UK, France and Germany, to "take back" more than 800 militants from the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, ISIS, banned in Russia) and put them on trial.
"These individuals are suspected of terrorism, they are foreign terrorist fighters, this is precisely the term enshrined in the UN Security Council resolution, and these resolutions contain a very clear list of steps that need to be taken against these foreign terrorist fighters when they fall into the hands of relevant countries fighting against terrorists," Lavrov told reporters.
"These criteria must be met, and the first absolutely indispensable step is transparency and the transfer of data about these individuals," he said commenting on Trump's statement.
