ABU DHABI (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th February, 2019) Armenia expects to receive four Russian Su-30SM jets in late 2019 or early 2020 and is planning to increase the number of such bombers to 12, Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan told Sputnik Monday.
"We continue negotiations on the next batch of Su-30SM jets. Everything will depend on how quickly the aircraft can be ready, there are issues of import substitution and so on. We plan to get the first batch this year or at the beginning of the next year," the minister said during IDEX-2019 weapons expo.
Yerevan is planning to buy a total of 12 Su-30SM bombers, the minister added.
