MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th February, 2019) Four Indian servicemen, including one major, were killed on Monday during clashes with militants in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the Hindustan Times newspaper reported, citing local police.

After a short firefight in one of the villages of Pulwama district, the police and armed forces cordoned off the area and began to conduct searches, the publication said.

Shooting was heard on the spot, and local residents were asked to stay in their homes, it added.

On Thursday, a blast of an improvised explosive device in Pulwama killed 45 Indian servicemen. The Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The group, which used to perpetrate attacks in the Jammu and Kashmir state, is affiliated with Taliban movement and al-Qaeda terrorist organization (banned in Russia) and aims to separate Kashmir from India and to merge it into neighboring Pakistan. Pakistani Foreign Ministry strongly protested attempts to link Islamabad to the terrorist attack without any investigation.
