France's Yellow Vests Held Demonstrations In Paris Marking 3 Months Of Anti-Gov't Protests

PARIS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th February, 2019) Yellow vest protesters gathered at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris on Sunday to mark three months since the start of their anti-government movement, a Sputnik correspondent reported.

Some of the protesters were waving flags of General Confederation of Labour, France's largest trade union, while others carried pictures of Cuban revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara, according to the correspondent.

The BFMTV broadcaster reported citing police department that some 1,500 people had participated in Paris protests.

Large-scale demonstrations erupted in France on November 17 in the wake of the government's decision to raise fuel prices and increase fuel tax. Even though the French authorities later scrapped their plans, the yellow vest protesters, dissatisfied with the government's social policies, continued to rally across the country.
