MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th February, 2019) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire registered eight ceasefire violations in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side recorded 17 truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria said on Sunday.
"Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 8 cases of firing in the provinces of Aleppo-1, Hama-4, Latakia-1, Idlib-2. The Turkish side has registered 17 cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Hama-9, Aleppo-5, Idlib-3," the center said in its daily bulletin.
Over the given period, the Russian military carried out three humanitarian actions in three settlements in the provinces of Daraa, Deir ez-Zor and Hama, handing out a total of 1,500 food packages.
Apart from being one of the guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria, Russia has been also assisting Damascus in the postwar reconstruction of the country and the repatriation of refugees. The Russian military carries out regular humanitarian actions across Syria, delivering tonnes of food to local residents.
