Almost 70 People Died Due To Outbreak Of Violence In Northern Nigeria - Governor

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th February, 2019) As many as 66 people were killed in several settlements of northern Nigeria's Kaduna state as a result of attacks by criminal elements, the governor of the state, Samuel Aruwan, said in a statement on Friday.

"Security agencies today reported the recovery of 66 bodies that were killed in attacks by criminal elements on various dispersed hamlets in the Maro Gida and Iri axis of Kajuru LGA," the statement published on Facebook by the spokesperson for the governor, Nasir El-Rufai, said.

According to the statement, 22 children and 12 women were among the victims. Four injured people were rescued by security forces and receiving medical assistance.

The Nigerian government condemned attacks and expressed condolences to victims' families. Security forces were deployed to settlements affected.
