Venezuela Plans to Hold Conference to Support International Law - Vassily Nebenzia

The government of Venezuela plans to convene a conference in support of international law and its authorities, Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia told reporters on Thursday

UNITED NATIONS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th February, 2019) The government of Venezuela plans to convene a conference in support of international law and its authorities, Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia told reporters on Thursday.

"I am aware of the fact that Venezuela is planning to convene an international conference to support international law and Venezuela's relevant authorities," Nebenzia said.

The Russian ambassador explained that the conference will also seek to eliminate foreign involvement in Venezuela's internal affairs.

Earlier on Thursday, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza announced the establishment of a working group of some 50 countries, including Russia, China, Syria, Iran, Nicaragua and Cuba, to oppose foreign interference in Venezuela.

The United States and its allies have recognized the interim government of self-proclaimed interim president Juan Guaido and do not recognize the government of President Nicolas Maduro.

US President Donald Trump and other officials have said all options are on the table regarding solving the Venezuelan crisis, suggesting a possible military option.

Russia, China, Turkey, Mexico and other countries consider Maduro to be Venezuela's only and legitimate president.
