Moscow and New Delhi may cooperate in interplanetary missions to explore Mars, Venus and the Sun, Russian Ambassador to India Nikolay Kudashev told Sputnik

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th February, 2019) Moscow and New Delhi may cooperate in interplanetary missions to explore Mars, Venus and the Sun, Russian Ambassador to India Nikolay Kudashev told Sputnik.

"Our countries have always had close cooperation in this field, and today Russian-Indian cooperation in space is getting stronger. We can say with confidence that Russia is India's priority partner in matters of specialized cooperation in space ... Our countries may cooperate in the realization of interplanetary missions to explore Venus, Mars and the Sun," the ambassador said in an interview.

Kudashev also noted that in light of India's interest in developing its national manned spaceflight program, Russia was ready to provide India with the necessary technological support to help create life support systems for piloted spacecraft, navigation and docking systems, and to provide training for astronauts at the recently opened Human Space Flight Center in Bangalore.

Space has been a part of Russia-Indian strategic cooperation for decades and the two countries share a number of bilateral agreements in relation to joint space exploration and space technology development. In October 2018, Russia and India signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Russian State Space Corporation Roscosmos, agreeing to intensify cooperation in the field of space exploration for peaceful purposes.
