Seedless Kinnow Can Increase Exports: Citrus Experts

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 03rd Nov, 2016 ) : The citrus experts have said after cultivation of seedless kinnow the best rates can be achieved through export due to its high demand across the globe.
Talking to APP, the experts of Citrus Research Institute Sargodha said 95 per cent variety of seedless kinnow contained only one seed with more juice and long storage life. They said seedless kinnow could be exported to Russia, England, the USA, Germany and other European countries for better rates.
Citrus Research Institution Director Altaf-ul-Rehman said all types of assistance and modern techniques were being provided to farmers for enhancing per acre citrus production.
To improve citrus quality according to international standards, he said the latest varieties of seedless citrus fruits were being introduced which should be adopted by farmers.
He added that saplings of "ARI 2016" seed, approved by the Punjab Seed Council had been cultivated over 30,000 acres of the province, including in Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah and Vehari. He said the Punjab government was making efforts to introduce modern techniques in the agriculture sector.
