Government Urged To Make Relief-oriented Measures For Lakki's Farmers

LAKKI MARWAT (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 03rd Nov, 2016 ) : Former Federal minister Salim Saifullah Khan Thursday called upon the federal and provincial governments to declare the district as calamity-hit area and exempt it from agriculture and land taxes.
Talking to farmers' delegation here, the former minister said the government was needed to take concrete measures for boosting the agriculture sector of the district, which was badly hit by flood in past and caused massive destruction to the standing crop, he added.
He said the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should facilitate the livestock farmers of the district, where minimum or no livestock services were available to the farmers, adding the initiative could lead to the development of dairy development.
He said people of the southern districts of the KP especially Lakki Marwat were facing poverty and unemployment despite the fact youth of the area were gifted with excellent talent, therefore, the former senator said there was a needed to create job opportunities for them enabling them to earn livelihood in respectable manner besides contributing effectively to the country's socio-economic development.
He also inaugurated a water supply scheme in Sherri Khel village, saying the scheme was materialized following concrete measures of his party and support of the notable of the area. He assured that he would continue work for welfare of the people of the area, adding more development packages and projects would be initiated in the district in order to bring it at par with other areas of the province in terms of socio-economic prosperity.
Other speakers also addressed the ceremony and expressed their support for development of the district.
