Experts For Complete Wheat Sowing Till 20th For Bumper Crop

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 03rd Nov, 2016 ) : Agriculture experts have advised farmers to complete wheat sowing till November 20 for a bumper crop. In a release issued by Punjab agriculture department here Thursday, experts said that seed be sown at the rate of 50 kilogram per acre in case of sowing on or before November 20.
However, in case of sowing after November 20 up to December 15, the farmers should apply 60 kilogram seed per acre. Experts said that some anti-fungus medicine be applied to seed before sowing for resistance against diseases.
Only the registered seed varieties be sown including Lasani-2008, Faisalabad-2008, Aas-2011, Millat-2011, Punjab-2011, AARI-2011, NARC-2011, Galaxy-2013, Ujala-2016, Borlog-2016, Johar-2016, and Gold-2016.
Seed should only be obtained from Punjab Seed Corporation (PSC) or its registered dealers. However, in case the farmers have stock of seed maintained at their place then this seed should undergo grading process free of cost at the offices of agriculture officers and should be sown after being treated with some suitable anti-fungus agents after consulting officials.
In time sowing of wheat was a mandatory requirement in irrigated area if farmers want to get handsome yield. Experts said that farmers should stop applying water to their cotton, sugarcane and maize fields some 15-20 days before harvest to get the field vacated for wheat sowing.
After the harvest, farmers should apply Rotovator in moist field and twice ploughing and levelling before sowing of wheat through drill. In paddy sown areas, farmers should apply Rotovator once followed by Disc plough twice.
Then they should apply traditional plough and level the field before wheat sowing through drill or pores. Experts said that weaker land in irrigated areas should get two bags of DAP, half bag Urea, and a bag of Potassium Sulphate per acre.
Average fertile land in irrigated areas should get one and half bags of DAP, half bag of Urea and a bag of Potassium Sulphate per acre at the time of sowing while rich fertile land in irrigated areas need a bag of DAP, half bag of Urea and a bag of Potassium Sulphate per acre at the time of sowing, release concluded.
