At least nine people were killed in a fire that broke out in a hotel located in the Indian capital of New Delhi, local media reported on Tuesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th February, 2019) At least nine people were killed in a fire that broke out in a hotel located in the Indian capital of New Delhi, local media reported on Tuesday.

The fire in Hotel Arpit Palace, located in New Delhi's Karol Bagh district, broke out earlier in the day, the Asian news International (ANI) agency specified.

According to media reports, 35 people were rescued, and all of them who sustained injuries were taken to hospital.

Search and rescue operations are underway.

The cause of the fire has not been established yet.

As a fire officer told ANI, people could not use corridors to evacuate, since there was a wooden paneling there. A total of two people jumped off the building.
