MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th February, 2019) Russia's state space corporation Roscosmos and the Russian academy of Sciences have proposed to establish a presidential council on space, similar to the one that exists in the United States, for the implementation of Russia's lunar exploration program, a document, prepared after the bodies' joint meeting last November, said.
"To develop proposals on the creation of a council on space under the president of the Russian Federation that would have functions of determining the strategy of the development of the [Russian] space industry," the document said.
A council on space already exists in Russia within the Russian Academy of Sciences. The body helps Roscosmos develop the country's Federal space program.
In 2017, US President Donald Trump re-established the National Space Council.
