Russia's Data on MH17 Crash Must be Taken Into Account in Talks With Netherlands - Grushko

The dialogue between Russia and the Netherlands on the 2014 crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 is underway and the information submitted by Moscow should be taken into account, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said on Friday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th February, 2019) The dialogue between Russia and the Netherlands on the 2014 crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 is underway and the information submitted by Moscow should be taken into account, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said on Friday.

"Our dialogue has never stopped, including at the political level. We ... are ready for dialogue in view that it would take account such issues as the failure of the Ukrainian side to provide Primary data to an investigation team which is in charge of this case in the Netherlands," Grushko told reporters.

According to the deputy foreign minister, the sides should also discuss the responsibility of Ukraine, which "did not close its airspace," and other aspects related to the "disregard by the Netherlands of the information that we provided to them as part of legal cooperation" between the countries.

On July 17, 2014, a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed near the city of Donetsk. All 298 passengers and crew on board the aircraft died. Kiev accused local militias of downing the aircraft, while they said that had no weapons capable of downing such a plane.

The interim conclusions presented by the Joint investigation Team [JIT] suggested that the plane had been downed by a Russian-made Buk missile originating with a military brigade stationed in the Russian city of Kursk.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has said that the JIT allegations of Russia's links to the crash were groundless and regrettable, adding that the investigation was biased and one-sided. Russian President Vladimir Putin has pointed out that Russia was not allowed to participate in the investigation of the crash, and Moscow can only recognize the results of the probe if it participates in it fully.

The Russian Defense Ministry has said that all missiles like the one, whose engine the Dutch investigative commission showed, were discarded after 2011.
