WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th February, 2019) The meeting of the International Contact Group in Montevideo, Uruguay, was positive and participants agreed on the need for a new presidential election conducted via a credible electoral process, Portuguese Foreign Minister Augusto Santos Silva told Sputnik on Thursday.
"It was a positive meeting because it gathered quite a few number of countries, most from Europe and Latin America, and we agreed on the need to call for new presidential elections through a credible process," Silva said.
Silva said the ICG dares launch the necessary contacts "with all the relevant Venezuela actors" and also "with international and regional players in order to guarantee the credibility to the transparency of the new election."
