PTI Wasted Six Months Of Nation In Agitation: Asif Kirmani

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 02nd Nov, 2016 ) : Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Dr Asif Kirmani Wednesday said though the name of the Prime Minister was not mentioned in Panama Papers, he presented himself for investigation and also wrote to the Supreme Court to form a commission.

If the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had agreed to the government offer at that time, six months of the nation would not have been wasted in protests and agitation, he said talking to a private news channel.

He said it was the PTI which made the process of terms of reference (ToR) controversial and prepared person specific ToR on Panama Papers issue. The Prime Minister also appeared in the Parliament and gave his stance on the issue, he said.

He said the government, from day one, after the revelation of Panama Papers, was ready for investigation and wanted accountability of all those who owned offshore companies. The adviser said all persons who got waived off loans and grabbed plots of widows should also be investigated.

He said since the PML-N government believed in democracy, so it gave permission to the PTI to hold a peaceful protest in Islamabad. However, they gave call to lockdown the capital, the government had to take protective measures to maintain peace. Asif Kirmani said the PML-N had full trust in the judiciary and it would accept the court decision on Panama papers.
