One Syrian Soldier Killed, Another Injured As Militants Shell Aleppo - Russian Military

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th February, 2019) A Syrian soldier was killed and another one was injured as a result of shelling by militants in Syria's Aleppo province, head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Syrian Reconciliation Lt. Gen. Sergei Solomatin said on Wednesday.

"Over the past day, from the Idilb de-escalation zone terrorists have attacked Zahra in Aleppo province. Serviceman of the Syrian Arab Republic was killed and another was injured," Solomatin said at a briefing.

He also noted that a total of 221,696 Syrian refugees returned to their home country as of Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 43,863 people were granted amnesty as of Tuesday as the Syrian authorities continue implementing the presidential decree on amnesty for those who evade military service.

According to Solomatin, over the past 24 hours, the Russian Centre for Reconciliation has carried out a humanitarian operation by delivering 500 food packages to the settlement of Arbid, Aleppo province.

Syria has been engulfed in an armed conflict since 2011, with the government forces fighting numerous terrorist organizations and armed opposition groups. Russia, along with Turkey and Iran, is a guarantor of the ceasefire in Syria. Moscow has also been providing humanitarian aid to residents of the crisis-torn country.
