Women Councillors Urged To Learn About Their Rights And Responsibilies

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 02nd Nov, 2016 ) : The Mayor Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) Syed Tayab Hussain has said the women councilors should learn about the rights and responsibilities which the Sindh Local Government Act, 2013, has shouldered on them.

He expressed these views while addressing a workshop organized by Rural Development Foundation, a non-profit organization, at HMC's office here Wednesday. The Mayor said knowledge both the powers and responsibilities given to the women councilors would enable them to discharge their obligations well.

The Mayor also appreciated the NGO for imparting training to the women councilors, observing that such workshops would enhance the capability of the councilors to fulfill their responsibilities.

The foundation's executive director Fazal Chandio said they were imparting training to chairmen, vice chairmen and councilors elected from the union councils, union committees and wards. However, the foundation was particularly organizing awareness programs for the women local councilors in Hyderabad district.

The Legal Officer Trainee and elected councilors also spoke on the occasion.
