MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th February, 2019) Daimler automotive giant plans to inaugurate its first Mercedes factory in Russia, located northwest of the Russian capital, in April, the Moscow region governor said on Tuesday.Andrey Vorobiev made the announcement at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin website has published the transcript of the event.
"I received a letter from Daimler, Mercedes addressed to you. You once supported this project and our German colleagues wasted no time building a factory ... They plan to launch it in April," Vorobiev said, inviting Putin to the plant's opening ceremony.
Vorobiev added that the factory would assemble four models of cars, manufacturing roughly 40,000 vehicles a year. Several vocational schools near Moscow have already been engaged in training the plant's future staff, the governor added.
