Russia to Allocate $40.6Mln to WHO to Fight Non-Communicable Diseases - Gov't Decree

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree authorizing allocation of more than $40 million to finance a joint project with the World Health Organization (WHO) on non-communicable diseases prevention and control, a document published Tuesday on Russia's official Internet portal of legal information said

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th February, 2019) Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree authorizing allocation of more than $40 million to finance a joint project with the World Health Organization (WHO) on non-communicable diseases prevention and control, a document published Tuesday on Russia's official internet portal of legal information said.

"Allocate in 2019-2023 from the Federal budget funds of up to $40.6 million for the payment of special purpose contribution to the World Health Organization for financing the joint project of the Russian Federation and the World Health Organization aimed at strengthening health systems for prevention and control of non-communicable diseases," the decree reads.

According to the order, up to $7.8 million will be contributed in 2019, while up to $8.2 million will be allocated annually from 2020 to 2023.

According to the Russian Ministry of Health, Russia is among world leaders by the effectiveness of prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases. Modern health screenings to prevent the development of diseases in the early stages are available throughout the country.
