Uber driver arrested for blackmailing girl in Karachi

A girl had taken an Uber ride but forgot her phone in the car.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 5th February, 2019) An Uber driver in Karachi was arrested for demanding money to return the mobile phone of a passenger.

According to details, a girl had taken an Uber ride to Gulshan Iqbal in Karachi on Sunday but forgot her phone in the car. When the girl contacted the driver to return her phone, he demanded that he will only return the phone if she pays him Rs 10,000.

The police arrested the Uber driver for blackmailing the girl.

Police officials said that girl’s brother Hunain Ali called on her sister’s phone with his number. However, the driver refused to return the phone and demanded Rs 10,000.

The girl then registered a complaint with the police against the Uber driver. The police traced the driver and arrested him.

The police recovered the mobile phone from his possession and returned it to the girl.

The girl had informed Uber of the incident as well via an e-mail.
