LAHORE (Pakistan Point News - 01st February, 2019) Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, has said Kashmir is not a border dispute that the Pakistan and India can resolve through bilateral talks.
The Kashmir conflict is an issue affecting the lives of over 13 million Kashmiris and cannot be resolved without their consent and consultation. The dominant majority of Kashmiris want to join Pakistan and they have refused Indian occupation for the past 71 years. He expressed these views while addressing a Kashmir Conference organized by the Unique Group of Institutions at Alhamra Art Council Lahore. Intellectual and author Dr. Mujahid Mansori, renowned TV anchor Orya Maqbool Jan, rector Unique Group of Institute, Amjad Ali Khan, Rashid Mahmood and other speakers also addressed the event. President Masood Khan said that in order to resolve this long standing issue, we must not solely rely on bilateral talks with India, and instead we must once again approach the international community, and organizations; and resolve the conflict by reducing our dependence on two-way dialogue. He said that we have to take the issue to the United Nations General Assembly, the Security Council, the United Nations Commission for Human Rights; approach the British Parliament and other influential legislative bodies to help garner support for the Kashmiris and to help to implement UN resolutions for a free and fair plebiscite in Kashmir. The President condemned India’s militaristic approach to suppressing the freedom movement in IOK. He said that despite India's use of state terror in IOK, it plays the victim demonizing and label. India is propagating a narrative about Kashmir and the world is believing in this false narrative. President Sardar Masood Khan said that this movement has started in 1831 when the people of Kashmir first started their resistance against the oppression and injustice of the then Maharaja. The President said that five hundred thousand Kashmiris have been mercilessly killed since 1947. He urged the people from all walks of life to fully participate in February 5 programs to express their complete solidarity with the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir struggling for their inalienable right to self-determination.
