FPCCI Asks For Third-party Lab For Industrial, Commercial Consumers Gas Meters Inspection
Sumaira FH Published January 30, 2019 | 07:13 PM
Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Vice President Abdul Waheed Shaikh Wednesday said the industrial and commercial consumers of SNGPL and SSGC are facing problems of over-billing and penalties all over Pakistan which causes financial and mental disturbance as well
The third-party lab inspection and reporting of the gas meters would be a positive measure to reduce the problems of industrial consumers of SNGPL and SSGC all over Pakistan, he said this in a meeting with OGRA Executive Director Shehzad Iqbal and officials, a press release said.
The meeting was also attended by Irfan Ghauri of All Pakistan CNG Associations and Mazhar Mufti, Secretary FPCCI Capital Office.
Abdul Waheed Sheikh further said currently both gas supply companies have their own laboratories for testing, inspection and report of their own gas meters which is not realistic and also seem un-ethical.
The FPCCI has approached to the OGRA chairperson through a letter and suggested to isolate the gas meter testing and reporting through third party lab instead of the SNGPL and SSGC own laboratories.
Keeping in view of the importance of the suggestion of FPCCI and satisfaction of consumer viewpoint, OGRA authorities immediately called FPCCI to discuss the matter and its mechanism, added by the FPCCI Vice President.
Shehzad Iqbal agreed on the suggestion of FPCCI and said this would be beneficial for the consumers and the third-party inspection and reporting of gas meters will uplift the confidence level of the consumer on SNGPL and SSGC.
He informed that OGRA will work on its mechanism with the collaboration of FPCCI. He further said there would be further legislations and standards required to set for this purpose.
Initially, one independent lab for this purpose should be established in each province, he added. The FPCCI assured OGRA for any assistance in the matter.
