Rescue Mission To Start In Northern Pakistan For 7 Missing After Snowfall - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th January, 2019) Later in the day, a search and rescue operation will start in the northern Pakistani district of Upper Kohistan, since at least people have gone missing in the mountains following a heavy snowfall, local media reported on Sunday.

The seven people have been searching for precious peridot gemstones in Upper Kohistan's Spat Malli area, the Geo tv broadcaster specified.

According to Geo TV, the treasure hunters' families had lost contact with them over a week ago and were afraid that the missing people could have been trapped, since the routes leading to the mountains were blocked by the snowfall.

The Pakistan Army's staff will take part in the search and rescue operation, and a helicopter is expected to be used.
