At least two people have been killed in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) from January 18 to January 24 as a result of Kiev's military operation, a representative of the DPR ombudsman's office said on Friday

DONETSK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th January, 2019) At least two people have been killed in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) from January 18 to January 24 as a result of Kiev's military operation, a representative of the DPR ombudsman's office said on Friday.

"From January 18 to January 24, 2019, two DPR soldiers were killed as a result of the armed aggression by Ukraine on the territory of the DPR," the representative said.

According to the ombudsman's office, six people have been injured in the DPR since the beginning of the year.

A total of 4,731 people, including 81 children, have been killed in the DPR since the beginning of the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine in 2014.

In 2014, Kiev launched a military operation against the DPR and its neighboring Luhansk People's Republic after the latters' proclaimed independence from Kiev, refusing to recognize the new central government.

In 2015, the warring parties signed a Normandy group-brokered ceasefire agreement. However, fighting continues, with both sides accusing each other of violating the ceasefire.
