Trump Administration To Return Immigrants To Mexico To Wait For Court Dates - Reports

NEW YORK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th January, 2019) The Trump administration will stop allowing refuge seekers to enter the United States from the southern border while awaiting decisions on their cases under a new policy that aims to decrease immigrant flows starting on Friday, media reported.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officers will begin sending back asylum-seekers who attempt to cross the border at the San Ysidro port of entry in California from Tijuana, Mexico, to wait for their cases being reviewed by immigration judges, NBC news reported on Thursday citing DHS officials familiar with the matter.

Currently, immigrants who pass the credible fear interview can stay in the United States while they wait for courts to decide on their cases.

Under the new policy, the asylum-seekers who arrive at the San Ysidro port of entry will be sent back to Mexico with a notice to appear in court in the city of San Diego.
