CTP Advises Tourists Not To Make Unnecessary Visits To Murree During Snowfall

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jan, 2019 ) :City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi on Tuesday advised the tourists not to make unnecessary visits to Murree and its adjoining areas during snowfall as due to heavy snowfall, the roads of the hill station are slippery.

According to CTP spokesman Wajid Satti, the tourists had been advised not to visit Murree during snowfall and avoid unnecessary visits to the hilly areas in order to avoid a road mishap as snowfall started on Sunday evening continued on Tuesday and Murree had received about two feet snow till Tuesday morning. The galyat had also received over two feet snow which led to traffic congestion on many roads.

A large number of tourists thronged to Murree covering white blanket and making nature lovers to record their happy moments of life.

A large number of tourists, mainly from twin cities � Islamabad and Rawalpindi � were heading to Malka-e-Kohsar, Murree, to enjoy the snowfall. Thousands of tourists thronged to enjoy the snowfall at Pindi Point, Kashmir Point, the Mall and Ayubia.

The spokesman said, the CTP Rawalpindi had issued a traffic advisory to avoid congestion and blockages on roads of Murree.

Many tourists poured into Murree for the snowfall and according to the traffic police's spokesperson nearly 40,000 vehicles had entered the hill station after Sunday's snowfall.

There were long queues of traffic and no parking was available in Murree due to the snow.

The traffic police had deployed 210 wardens on various roads to facilitate tourists, he added.

Traffic police officials were asking tourists not to stop their vehicles only to take pictures so that the traffic would not stop on the main roads, to run their cars on petrol and not CNG and keep water and dry fruit in their vehicles in case of severe traffic jams.

An additional traffic force had also been deputed in the area on the directives of Chief Traffic Officer Mohammad Bin Ashraf.

According to the advisory, the tourists are advised to strictly adhere with traffic laws and avoid from making dual lanes on the roads.

The CTP also urged the tourists to follow the traffic guidelines and contact on traffic police helpline 051-9269200 in case of emergency.

The met office recorded 27mm of rain at Zero Point, 39mm in Saidpur, 44mm in Golra, 37mm at the new Islamabad International Airport (IIA), 31mm in Bokra, 29mm in Shamsabad and 28mm in Chaklala, Rawalpindi.
