DEWA CEO, French Consul-General discuss cooperation in energy sector

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, and French Consulate General in Dubai have discussed ways to further bolster cooperation in the energy sector

DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jan, 2019) Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, and French Consulate General in Dubai have discussed ways to further bolster cooperation in the energy sector.

This came during a meeting between Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA and a delegation from the French Consulate, headed by Raja Rabia, Consul-General of France in Dubai. The two parties stressed the importance of cooperation between DEWA and French energy organisations and companies, affirming their distinguished joint relations and the importance of taking it to greater horizons.

Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s comprehensive strategy for the energy sector that has been translated into practical strategies, stressing that the Authority works to secure energy supplies by diversifying the energy mix to cover 75 per cent of Dubai's total clean energy production by 2050. To achieve this, DEWA has launched several green programmes and initiatives, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world, based on the Independent Power Producer, IPP, model, with a production capacity of 5,000 megawatts, MW, by 2030 and a total investment of AED50 billion.

Raja Rabia commended DEWA’s efforts in helping establish Dubai as a hub for green economy and promoting its leadership in various fields of energy. The delegation expressed its interest in participating in DEWA’s projects and sharing best practices and expertise in clean energy to promote sustainable development in Dubai.
