Putin, Abe to Make Statement to Media After Moscow Talks - Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will make a statement to the media after the talks in Moscow on Tuesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd January, 2019) Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will make a statement to the media after the talks in Moscow on Tuesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Peskov noted that the one-on-one meeting between Putin and Abe would start at around 2 p.m. Moscow time (11.00 GMT), during which the sides would continue discussing regional issues, bilateral cooperation and the peace treaty.

"This will be followed by Russian-Japanese talks in an extended format as a working breakfast. During these talks, the sides mainly discuss specific projects of bilateral cooperation, including major projects. After that, Putin and Abe will make a statement to the press on the results of this working visit," the spokesman said.

Peskov added that the second part of Putin's working day would be devoted to various internal meetings and conferences. There will be many of them and they will be non-public, according to the spokesman.

Economic ties between Russia and Japan have expanded in recent years, including in the Far East, amid efforts of the two governments to create the conditions for the signing of a peace treaty.
