Russia's Roskomnadzor Watchdog Removes Ban on 2.7Mln IP Addresses of Amazon

Russia's state communication watchdog Roskomnadzor said on Tuesday that it lifted ban from 2.7 million IP addresses belonging to Amazon, as they are no longer used for Telegram

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd January, 2019) Russia's state communication watchdog Roskomnadzor said on Tuesday that it lifted ban from 2.7 million IP addresses belonging to Amazon, as they are no longer used for Telegram.

"Roskomnadzor has lifted the access restriction from 2.7 million IP addresses owned by Amazon. Experts of Roskomnadzor found that for a long time, these subnets are not used to ensure the functioning of the Telegram messenger," the watchdog said in a statement.

Last year, a Moscow district court authorized Roskomnadzor to block Telegram, after the messenger refused to give encryption keys to the Russian security services which cited concerns that the messenger could be used by terrorists or criminals.
