MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st January, 2019) Venezuela's Supreme Court on Monday declared as "invalid" the leadership of the opposition-run National Assembly, saying they had seized legislative powers illegally."The National Assembly does not have a valid leadership... elected on January 5... in usurpation of authority," the ruling said, adding all its decisions were declared "null and void."
The legislature has appointed Juan Guaido as its speaker. Guaido said he was prepared to take over as the nation's interim president to organize a new presidential ballot after the parliament refused to recognize last May's election.
