PM Imran angry at ministers, Punjab police for mishandling Sahiwal incident

The prime minister said that we cannot defend the unlawfulness of any institution.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 21st January, 2019) Prime Minister Imran Khan is displeased at the Punjab police and his ministers for giving statements prior to any investigation.

The prime minister said that we cannot defend the unlawfulness of any institution.

He asked the ministers as to why they jumped into the matter before the investigation was held.

The prime minister said that ministers gave statements without proper investigation.

Expressing his displeasure at Punjab police, he said the police should avoid taking any step that exposes its unlawfulness.

The prime minister said that the government wants rule of law and security of citizens.

He said that the Punjab government should not have handled the matter in such a way.

Just as the whole nation is shook, Prime Minister Imran Khan is also shocked at the Sahiwal incident.

In a tweet Sunday morning, the prime minister said that he is still shocked at seeing the traumatized children who saw their parents shot before their eyes.

“Any parent would be shocked as they would think of their own children in such a traumatic situation,” he said.

The prime minister added that these children will now be fully looked after by the state as its responsibility.

Four people including two women were killed during an action by Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) near Qadirabad on Saturday.

Reportedly, the incident occurred at Qadirabad where a team of CTD Lahore, taking action against a suspected car, shot dead two men and two women.

Later, the CTD team took the bodies, children and other valuables from the vehicle. However, the team later on dropped the children at a filling station.

A spokesman for DPO office Sahiwal said that the CTD had taken action against the car riders and police had no link with it.

A child Munib Butt, who survived the attack, said that he, along with his parents, was going to Burewala to attend a marriagefunction when their parents were killed.

With the alleged shady encounter resulting into killing of four persons, a big question mark was posed on the functioning of Punjab Police.

The victims were first declared as kidnappers and then as terrorists from a proscribed group by the police force, which raised eyebrows on the alleged shootout, followed by contradictory witnesses' narratives.

As the incident drew wide ire and condemnation, demands were also made for a thorough probe.

Prime Minister Imran Khan himself contacted Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and sought a report over the alleged encounter. He directed for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the incident, so that facts could be ascertained.
